SpaceX’s attempt to launch their Falcon 9 rocket with the Dragon spacecraft was aborted by the computer at T-0 due to a high pressure reading on engine 5 of the first stage. Cool APOD pic today entitled A Laser Strike at the Galactic Center

Click here to view and click the pic on that page for highest res.

BTW the laser is for adaptive/corrective optics. One is software and one is distorting the mirrors, can never remember which way round.

Found this cool APOD pic of a few days ago called Arp 188 and the Tadpole's Tidal Tail

Nice to see gravity in action. There's a smaller galaxy (lower right) that has a jet from its center. Cool.

They are all good, but the first one “A Dark Dune Field in Proctor Crater on Mars” is the oddest.

No fakes here GT40. Real life is far better than fiction if you look hard enough.

The latest selection from APOD.

The Seagull Nebula. Had to put this in as it's the nickname of our local football team.
A Sun Halo Beyond Stockholm.
The Antikythera Mechanism.
This is a cool mechanism that was made by the Greeks and way ahead of it's time.
And now it is rebuilt with lego...

I read an article of this lego version and the guy who built it had to design his own differential gears to get the right ratios, then send plans to lego to get them to make them.
