McLaren's Fernando Alonso has had a heavy crash during the final day of the pre-season test at Barcelona.

The car didn't look too badly damaged but Alonso has been taken to hospital.

Doesn't look like Alonso is out of the woods yet.

Wishing him all the best and a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the up-date DD.

Looks like we will have to wait until race two to compare Button and Alonso.

Comfort the Disturbed! Disturb the Comfortable!

Maybe longer, Data. It's a common phenomenon for drivers to recover (psychologically) from crashes only after several races. Whether this is from shaken confidence or PTSD is unclear, but it happens often, and has in some cases ruined a driver's career. Alonso shows great promise, so I nope this isn't the case here, but we'll just have to see.

It seems he's been advised to not race in case he has a 2nd accident and concussion. More a physical thing than a psychological one. Time will tell.

Quite correct Snowy, 2 concussion syndrome I think its called where you get a concussion before recovering from a previous one.

This can be fatal in extreme cases so the sporting world is starting to (slowly) get quite hot on this.
