A well thought out idea.

I'll say I consider this website is a social media which I consider to be useful.  I don't consider myself to be very social since I spend my time working on things rather than with other people. I will say just the other day I had another problem with a soldering gun tip, I went to you tube and found a video containing the solution, replace the tip with 6 inches of 12 gauge cooper wire. A simple fix that took little time and let me continue working.

He is referring to the big boys of social media and even they're good in their own way.

I feel the problem arises from the fame culture. Famous for being famous (Katie Price(UK), Kardashians(US)) and the staging of your online presence to make you look good rather than just living.

This site is enough for me.  thumbsup

The Big boys and girls,  I'll have to agree with you I don't even know who most of them are, guess they use social media for more free publicity.  I do try to keep up with Elon Musk though.

I've actually been trying to ween myself off Facebook lately, I do the scrolling thing a lot and for the most part it's a bad time sink - but I only tend to do it when I am bored, so I don't suppose that's too bad.

It has it's strengths too though, like keeping in touch with family and close friends - like for example news from Dave and sister over the past few weeks.

And there are things that pop up that are actually quite interesting or funny. It's a mixed bag. I see it as something like a magazine. And we buy magazines that we like the contents of. I don't think the living in a bubble thing is new in this respect. If anything, if you have a diverse group of friends or contacts, then a lot of content will be outside your normal interests and so pops any bubble.

I have a Facebook page but haven't used it in years, I also have money in Facebook stock.  It was doing great then took a dive. Now the whole stock market doesn't look good.
