Recently Freddy started a thread about changing the word Heart to Butt with regard to song titles, just for fun. hats-off Plenty of posts were made and seeing that that the forum has been fairly quiet of late, I thought I might start this one.  idea Again just for fun. Post any quotes you like, they don't need to be substantiated or have an author, what ever you want.

Just a few to get things started.

King Harold, "someone's going to have someone's eye out with all these arrows".

Joan of Arc, "hot here isn't it".

And this one I found recently and really liked, "atheism is a non prophet organisation".

Over to you all, oh and Freddy, you can plagiarize this if you like. lol

I love the 'atheist' quote, not heard that one before.  thumbsup

I have to put at least one Douglas Adams quote in here as he is my fav author and Dave will like it too.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. (DNA)

The secret to life is sincerity, once you can fake this you have life sussed.

And this one, which I heard long, long ago, and so don't remember where it came from:

"The problem with fool-proof plans is that everyone underestimates the ingenuity of fools."

Not sure Dave, but I think I have heard that somewhere before.

In light of recent revelations with regard to Faster than Light experiments and re-runs etc, here's a quote from Benjamin Disraeli.

"To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge".

It is kind of bizarre that out of all the thousands of quotes around that Dave and Snowy came up with the same one...

Yeah, sorry about that. I hadn't seen Snowy's contribution when I posted mine. It is a bit odd, though, that we came up with the same one. Smiley

In the books from his Myth series, Robert Lynn Asprin has a tendency to place spurious quotes from various individuals in the headings of his chapters. Here's an example:

"Man shall never reach his full capacity while chained to the Earth. We must take wing and conquer the heavens." --Icarus

Not that unusual seeing as we're both Douglas Adams fans. Mine is the correct quote though. na na nana na  Grin

Here's another.

The spaceship hung in the air in exactly the the way a brick doesn't.

The graphics are very dated but still a classic. And everyone loves Marvin the paranoid android.
Incidentally, when Marvin finally circums he is twice as old as the universe due to his time travel and being abandoned.

Not to stray too far off topic, but here's a HHGTTG trivia question:

in the entire series of books, movies, radio shows, etc. what are the first words that Agrajag utters (says, thinks, whatever), and why?
