Computers are going to boot much quicker because of this, in short BIOS is going to die off and be replaced by UEFI, in conjunction with flash RAM we could see a PC boot in a few seconds.

I saw this mentioned somewhere the other day and meant to post about it here - well done for pipping me to the post.  It looks interesting doesn't it.  I think if there was one thing I would pick to improve in my PC at the moment it would be for it to turn on almost instantly.  Looks like that wish may come true in my next build.

Over all im very happy with my system right now, its fast enough for my gaming, video conversions and whatever I throw at it, so im not really in any rush to change/up-grade.

Going to try to hold out for as long as possible before I do my next build and hopefully UEFI will be the norm and at a good price by then.

A faster boot time would be welcomed with open arms

There's been talk of OS on a chip for years but no one has done it commercially. I fully understand where the BIOS ends and the OS starts. Not so sure for UEFI. And I'd assume any windows upgrades will confuse the issue.

Anything that takes us to more compatible hardware and faster boot times sounds good to me. If only they could also incorporate mristers as well...
