I have found a fault with downloading within IE9.

If I download multiple items and then close the tabs that the downloads started from before they've finished, they sometimes (twice now) stop at 99%. Weird.

Not sure of exact problem but it seems fine if I download 'em 1 at a time and/or keep the relevent tabs open until the download is finished.

Sounds like a bug, cant say I’ve downloaded much in IE9 so haven’t noticed it.

I had a look at this site on a machine with IE8 on today, and the rounded edges don’t work in it, so I up-graded it to IE9 Cheesy

How about a 'center' justification in the gallery?

Does look better with the rounded corners.

Yeah I think it looks better too  Cool

Not sure what you mean, to me it is all centred?

I thought on those pages the text looked better on the left, it does have a little bug in IE9 where its further over to the left than it should be which doesn’t look too good.

I’m not sure, and your suggestion has been noted Grin

Found this joke and it made me laugh.

Thought I'd put it in the IE thread.

So IE9...

I've been trying it the past few days and I would say it's OK - maybe a little less than okay and certainly not something special.

Niggles...

Sometimes when entering text the text box freezes.
Sometimes the arrow keys don't work right in text areas.
Logins to web password protected areas seems hit and miss.
Logins to the same do not (seem) to allow copy and paste, which is no good when you use strong passwords.
Scrolling the screen is jerky sometimes.
If you scroll down a page and it has youtube videos (maybe indeed all embedded flash) if the cursor is over a video you can't scroll any more, so you have to move the mouse to another part of the screen.
There is no spelling checker built in.
It does not import bookmarks from a flat HTML file properly - whole chunks are missing from my book marks.  And whole folders.

Well that's a few thing that I remember for the moment.

Of course like has already been said, they tried to copy the good stuff from Chrome.  That shows they no longer lead to me.

As far as those niggles go, Google Chrome has none of those problems. Niggles is perhaps an understatement somewhat.

So I have gone back to Chrome and it is so much nicer Smiley

It's like that advert...if you listen carefully it sounds like a Golf...

Well why not just have the best one in the first place  lol

Another thing I just remembered is Java doesn't seem to work, despite downloading the current version.

Last night I tried to view the Revolver map in IE and it would not work.  Today I viewed it with Chome and it worked perfectly  Cool

I didn’t think you would stay with it Freddy but i do think you make some valid points.

Let me come to IE9’s rescue, if that is possible  lol

The java thing is a 32 / 64 bit problem depending on which version you use, you need both installed, that’s how I got over that.

Fonts look nicer in IE9, they seem to render smoother, to my eyes.

I don’t like the red border Chrome puts round form inputs.

Bookmarks seem clumsy and not well thought out in Chrome.

The way IE shows you what is in every tab on the task bar when you hover over, is good.

IE integrates with windows better, the task bar thumbnails and MSE.

And it actually starts up quicker than Chrome for me too, even though google say Chrome is the fastest, I can’t agree with that.

I do use Chrome still but IE is my number one.

Hehe, no problem a lot of this is down to personal preference and chrome ticks a lot of the right boxes for me.

I did noticed the fonts are smoothed in IE9 - I found the W's to be washed out though - my eyes are used to Chrome now.

I got used to the bookmarks system in Chrome and I like it.

Chrome will show you everything you need to know about a page too and a lot of stuff that you really would not need too lol.  It's developer features are superior to IE imho..

Chrome and IE both start up fast here, I don't see any difference on my machine.

I really do not like the cramped address/search bar in IE, it's confusing - Chrome's is much bigger and clearer and simpler to use.  That's one of the most important things and MS have just made something very clumsy.

But we could blabber away about these differences all day.  The decision is made for me by Chrome itself - it works well, it's fast, has a lot of nice features and doesn't have those annoying problems that I mention above, which for me I just can't work with or be bothered to sort out.

I do think IE9 is OK though, but I won't be using it much.  SO I am the opposite  Tongue

BTW, on the speed front, I do think IE has caught up with Chrome, here they are working at about the same speed as far as I can see...

You will like this Freddy  Grin

What cramped address/search bar?

IE loads quicker for me by at least 0.25 of a second  Kiss

I did say I would try to rescue IE9  lol

LOL - hmm should I lose sleep over 0.25 of a second ?  lol

Yeah it's small and cramped, you can't see the address, when you type stuff in you can't tell what junk it has found from your history...

Silly little small icons, like the refresh button and whatever those other things are.  I want BIG buttons that I can see properly and not misclick  Shocked

And why no 'Paste & Search' ?

Far too cumbersome for the likes of me  Cheesy

Maybe there are some settings somewhere...but I just don't have the enthusiasm for it.
