I've always thought of Acer as a bit sub standard but have been fairly impressed with the build quality of their newer laptops.

eBuyer have the one you said and an LED backlit version for 2 prices. With only one in stock as I post this.

Impulse buy. They had the LED backlit one at £228 and £247 with stock of 1 and 810. I got the 1.
I shall be the new owner of an Acer screen in 5 days 'cos I didn't want to pay for the postage  Wink

Sweet  Cheesy  It's good you avoided Pixmania too, I have had a bad experience with them in the past and will never buy from them again.

Wish I had spotted the exdisplay bit before I ordered though I'm not too bothered and have decided to go with it. Hence the price was lower.
eBuyer's couriers are pretty good. Not had much experience pixmania (only 1 small item ever) but I intensely dislike Dabs these days due to the couriers. They don't even leave a card to say they've been. HDN (home delivery network) bunch of idiots  Huh?

If you don’t like it when it arrives send it back, easy, just don’t use HDN . hehe

That screen does have some outstanding specs doesn’t it, extremely high contrast ratio of up to 8,000,000:1, Shocked and 2ms, so you can brag, but the best bragging right has to be the LED backlight.

I did a google for reviews on this screen, can’t find any bad ones, almost all the ones I found thought it was excellent (5 stars), it’s a good price too if you ask me.

I have found it on other sites for over £300.

Snowcrach really liked you'r avatar, felt like it was laughing at me while I was writting about my problems with IE,  Now Data has the best avatar.
I think Acer had a bad reputation at start but improved as time pasted.  I have a relative who just bought a larger 32" screen tv for less than I paid for a 27 " a few years ago, better name also.

I am now the owner of a Acer screen and so far I'm not impressed.

The screen looks lovely and slim line etc.
But when I hook it up in it's true res (1920x1080) I have a black boarder. If I set it to 1680x1050 (wrong aspect) it fills the screen. As 1080 the text is a little blury but that maybe 'cos it's not 1 to 1 mapping the pixels.
The menu doesn't let you stretch the picture and there's no driver on the disc

Hmmmmm!!!

Is It plugged into HDMI? or even if its not, when running in that res you need to adjust the overscan in the ATI control centre.

Goto Desktop and displays, in the ATI CC click the little arrow on the right of the small monitor, that opens up the configure window, go to the scaling window and set overscan to 0.

Thanks. I'd worked it out before I saw your post but you are spot on.

Set overscan to 0 and pic fills up screen and text is nice and readable.

Do you know why the overscan wasn't set to 0 by default?

I have a theory, its to HD TV’s, by setting the default to slightly overscan it makes sure the picture will fit on any TV that gets plugged in, some older TV’s do need an overscan setting.

So basically it stops the windows start menu button going off screen on TV’s. It only does that in HD reses on my setup.

Thought I'd finish this thread by saying I am totally happy with this Acer monitor.

If anything the colours are more vibrant than my old HP and all is working well. The only hiccup was the ATI CCC not filling the screen properly.

Just to add, I’ve seen Snowys monitor running on his system, does look very nice both the picture quality and the monitor itself.  It certainly is one of the best I’ve seen and I’ve seen a few now.
