I built my PC just over a year ago, yesterday my speakers stopped working, although if I plug in my USB headset it works.

at first I thought it maybe my speakers, so I went out and got a cheap pair of speakers from argos, but still no joy.

I have checked all settings on the PC I can think of, but to no avail :scratch-head:

this is the MOBO https://www. aria. co. uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/AMD+Socket/Socket+AM3%2B+Piledriver+FX/GIGABYTE+GA-78LMT-USB3+AMD+760G+%28Socket+AM3%2B%29+Micro-ATX+Motherboard+?productId=51949

It does have a 3 yr Warranty on the MOBO, but I cant be without my PC

Hi lesmond and welcome.

Most USB headphones don't use the on-board sound card at all, so that probably explains why they work but your speakers don't.

You have some problem with the on-board sound it would seem.

Go to Control Panel, Sound.

What is set as your playback default device ?

Well that all looks Ok.

I know that your particular onboard sound can be troublesome.

Have you tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing.
