Again I have to re-do my operating system  very-angry
yesterday Copy and paste hangs for minutes at a time sometimes it takes up to 15 minutes for text to paste.
so I restarted my pc
My windows 8 os did an update upon restart and it seems ever since then now my programs have been freezing up as well.
virus? memory issue? bad sector? I'm not sure to be honest.
I viewed all error logs and it shows that the programs had to shut down, became unresponsive etc. but nothing about why this is actually happening not even an error code.

It takes me about 2-4 weeks to set up my computer to where I can actually get work done efficiently, and this is like the fifth or possibly sixth time I have to do this since I built this machine. I am really considering re-doing this machine another time and not have it connected to the web in any shape or form. I need a workstation that is reliable that I don't have to keep re-doing the os every month or two.

I guess I'm going to have to put up transferring files from workstation (with no internet access) to laptop (which will have internet access).
However this is not in stone but I'm weighing heavily on that choice.

Further investigation, leads me to believe open office causing the issue.
I tried uninstall and re-installing open office but same problem persists when ever it is open confused
not sure if open office is the issue here though, for the same version works fine on my laptop with widows vista...is M$ causing the conflicts  scratch-head

Hmmm, It doesn't sound like virus activity to me, sounds more like a bus stalling which could be being caused by a bad driver or hardware.

And here are some more thoughts.

Copy paste is done with RAM

Most anti virus will scan the clipboard looking for nasty things.

Either of them could be causing the problem .

Nothing worse than a twitchy machine. Don't discount hardware problem or conflict.

I would also recommend some sort of ghosting program.

How are you doing with it?

As soon as my home page changed from google to a anti-virus page and all my scrollbard started scrolling on there own I knew it was a virus....I re-installed windows last night and did a virus scan on my 1tb drive. 1tb drive is clean Smiley
Today I started updates and program installation but I had to go out for a bit and I'm now back to installing programs.

Thank Freddy, I'm getting there slowly but surely.
I'm hoping to get back on track ofter the weekend. at the end of the week as this was happening, I managed to get 7 of 9 articles posted on http://www.ScriptedIntelligence.com home page that I had the article writer write for me...however the 7 still need some work and data verification, and I have to write up 2 more articles +get Trinity back on line and hopefully finish the e-book. busy week indeed, and installing programs on main rig make it all that much more busier. Can you say FUN Cheesy

Comfort the Disturbed! Disturb the Comfortable!

Just one bit of advice, my friend. Get some drive imaging software. considering all the crap you've gone through with computers this year, it's something that can seriously reduce your stress levels and thus add years to your life. Cheesy

Thanks for the advise Dave, but me and drive imaging software don't get along anymore. For the fact that I put faith of about 6 years worth of data + os in it's hands on multiple drives, and I ended up loosing all that data due to the files being corrupt. Every last one of them  Sad

So now I just save original files here there and everywhere, bad thing about that is that my files are not organized  innocent
