The Terrible Teens!

By Diane Jones.

The caps off the toothpaste the towels on the floor
The child I once knew I don't know anymore.
You're now in the shower at least once a day
I fear that you're washing your body away!
That sweet little face with its lovely soft skin
Is now covered in spots from forehead to chin.
I went to the chemist to get you some cream,
To show that I care and to make you feel clean.
The chemist said, "Try this, its good for all spots,"
He must have been right 'cos you've now lots and lots!
I ask you a question you grunt a reply
Am I going deaf dear? I ask with a sigh.
You go out at night when its time to come in,
My life is a battle that you always win!
You talk on the phone for hours every day
But if I ask a question you've nothing to say!
You gave me a shock when you coloured your hair
I don't like it Green it looked much nicer Fair.
And now in your navel you sport a gold ring
It makes me feel faint just to look at the thing!
You play music loud and you play it so long,
That I've upped my painkillers to incredibly strong!
You think yourself clever and wiser then me
Yet you can't even boil an egg for your tea!
Still you are my child though my patience you test
A terrible teenager but one of life's best.
