Re: New landing page

I like the new layout and agree with Freddy, the robot looks great.  thumbsup thumbsup

to be blunt (hope you don't mind) I would suggest making the search fields bg transparent not dark like it is. also the search fields themselves needs some help, maybe once the dark bg is gone you can have them looked etched into the header color?

Re: New landing page

I both agree and disagree with Syber. It would probably improve the appearance of the search boxes if they "stood out" a little more (by adding some slight 3D styling, either inset or outset - a light/dark dual box-shadow would do the trick nicely Wink )., but I think that the background color for them is just fine. Lightening them up would disrupt the look and feel of the page.

My observation regards the recent topic list. I assume it's based on the visitor's privileges? If so, fine. but if not, there are potentially sensitive posts listed there that should not be listed. Shocked

Re: New landing page

I changed the page from when Syber first commented on it and have taken away the dark background that he mentioned. so there might have been a bit of confusion over that.

Yes the page takes into account individual privileges for every user and shows relevant info.   Wink

Re: New landing page

Other than the link provided in this thread, how do you get to that page? Will it replace the home page?

I like the look, clean and funky.

Re: New landing page

I have some plans brewing to re-skin DH, keeping the sites colours but a new look, feel, the new page is the start of that plan but nothing is set in stone yet.

Glad you like what I've done so far.  Smiley

Re: New landing page

I have added some more bits to the page. The plan is to move the footer to the bottom of every page on the site when the new skin is ready.

Looks good  Smiley

Are you going to upgrade to SMF2 since SMF1 is unsupported now ?

Re: New landing page

Hehe, thanks Dave and Freddy  Smiley

To up-grade to SMF 2 or not, I know we have some features that are SMF 1 only, meaning there might be quite a lot of re-coding needed, will concentrate on the skin for now and see what gets removed from the site.

Re: New landing page

Well if you are considering SMF2 then I suggest you start with a skin for SMF2 because it's quite different.

Re: New landing page

You could always set up SMF2 in a separate folder, get it tweaked the way you want, then when/if you're happy with it, move it over and roll it out to the public. Smiley
