Nostalgia

Ah yes, Monaco is back!!! driving

I hope that, when all the non-muslim Grand Prix will disappear, we will keep at least Monaco and Spa.

The only reasons to still love Formula One (sorry, personal opinion of an old fan). flag

What no Silverstone  Shocked the home of F1   Tongue

Love Spa  Cool

Not sure about Monaco, is it really fit for a modern F1 car that is capable of 220MPH  scratch-head

I might watch the procession, sorry race.

Re: Nostalgia

I tend to agree with Data. Monaco is more of a fun driving party than a proper race.
With all that money, I doubt they'll change it any time soon.

Muslim countries just seem to have money. No prestige or ability to build cars. Oh, and heat. Stopping myself here before I go into a rant...

Comfort the Disturbed! Disturb the Comfortable!

Re: Nostalgia

The point for me RE: Monaco isn't the speed. There are plenty of courses that are well suited for that. Monaco is a race of handling and skill more than anything. Can the drivers successfully navigate the tight turns and narrow course without hitting a wall or other drivers? Any racer with good eyesight and decent reaction times can pass another driver on Silverstone or Spa. I don't think that can be said of Monaco, really.

Besides, the Cote' de Azur (prolly spelt rong) is one of the most beautiful courses in F1. Cheesy

Re: Nostalgia

You make some good points there Dave about the skill round such a track.

I like to see plenty of overtaking in the races, we will be lucky if we get to see any this year, he who gets pole normally wins @ Monaco. I hope to be proved wrong, unless Hamilton gets pole of course.  Grin

And it's looking good so far, Hamilton sets fastest lap in practice  Cool

Re: Nostalgia

Having driven the course at Monaco (virtually, of course) many times, with many different vehicles (in several different games), I've grown quite familiar with the course, and I can certainly understand why so little passing takes place. That said, however, my advice to all of the drivers in the upcoming race would be: "Grow a pair! It's only a machine you're driving, and if you die, you'll make YouTube!" Tongue Cheesy

Re: Nostalgia

You're right Dave. I'm so old that I can remember the poor Bandini (Monaco 1967). Even if they don't burn anymore, racing cars aren't toys... Sad
