Useless Research !!!
|
|
Of late, I have noticed a lot of "News Worthy" Useless Research. This one today really caught my eye. To think that someone got paid for this. Please post others that you find useless or obvious.

I could've told 'em that. I rarely sleep more than 5 hours after having a skin full. Due to the alcohol and my bladder waking me up. Not even worthy of an Ig nobel.

We have another !!!. Now who would have thought that Cats go around killing things and there is no mention of what they are killing will become extinct. Seems to me they are doing a good job.

That could be a problem though, that seems more useful to me than some research. This story was mentioned on QI a while back : The Stephens Island Wren was long remembered in local mythos as the only known species to be entirely wiped out by a single living being: the local lighthouse keeper's cat, named Tibbles. However, this belief was erroneous; while this cat did kill one of the last birds seen, a few more specimens were obtained in the following years, by which time the island also hosted numerous feral cats. The thought that our own Tibbles could cause this kind of thing is alarming http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephens_Island_Wren

I know exactly where you are coming from there DD. Prior to my current plight, I was classed as "Border-Line Obese" under the BMI index, now, however, because I have lost alot of muscle tone, I am now classed as "Normal". To think I was always regarded as Special here at DH.

Let's hope that thumb doesn't have any fat on it then. Found this one today on the BBC news feed, essentially, good research but it is wrong apparently.

To me this is Bleeding Obvious. All those times when I have had a Head Cold and couldn't smell anything because my nose was blocked up, all I needed to do was blow the thing.

Since the internet is open to everyone it's not surprising that we find a lot of things that fall under the category of research which seem trivial or worthless. One of the first things I do is consider the source. While we were discussing SSD'd, M.2 and pic express I looked into Intel research. For worthwhile info something that may be interesting to a few people here take a look at Intel. Carl2
