Crysis
Been playing this game again. Still very good for a 2005 game. It is still used as a system benchmark. Medium use of processor and heavy use of graphics card.
My old machine struggled with this game. Low frame rate even on medium to low settings. I now have everything on high and it looks very good.
I am now further than I have ever got with the game and only a few frustration points. I wont list 'em here in case they're spoilers.
Nearing the end. If only I could find a way off of this aircraft carrier...

Re: Crysis
I enjoyed Crysis, so much that I played it twice, you know it’s a good game when you go back and have another go.
Stunning graphics, when you consider it’s a 2005 game, it still looks as good as any today.
My main criticism for the game is that its basically a shooter and doesn’t really challenge the player in any other way.

Re: Crysis
I agree with your shooter comment but at least it's not a clone.
They have given the FPS genre a new (in 2005) dimension with the nano suit giving you armor/speed/strength/invisibility and another one I never use.

Re: Crysis
I'm glad you put this in, became interested in Crysis because it was to have more possibilities. I die rather quickly and have to go through the begining again and get tired of the same thing again and again.

Re: Crysis
Carl if you want to play Crysis but are having problems with the difficulty I have an idea that might help you:
God Mode
Locate the difficulty files in your Crysis installation folder (ie: C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsCrytekCrysisGameConfig). These files are called diff_easy.cfg, diff_normal.cfg, diff_hard.cfg and diff_bauer.cfg. Open the file (with Notepad) that corresponds to the difficulty level you are playing. Add the following line to the end of the file and save it:
g_godMode = 1
Now, when playing your health will still decrease but you will not die. Instead, your health and armor will automatically replenish when your health reaches 0, meaning you can play all you like, see the scenery and not worry about being killed.

Re: Crysis
Thanks for the tip, I have only one game Quake, don't play it much now, the noise scares my dog, usualy on my lap when I'm at the computer.
After reading I went to newegg to look at the games, Crysis Max edition is $37,
what caught my eye was Mass Effect 2 limited edition $70, blood, drug reference, sexual content, strong language, violence. Think I'd like dragon age.

Re: Crysis
Carl2, another general tip that works in most games is...
hit 'F5' key (quicksave) at intervals when the going gets hard.
With Crysis, it will autosave when you get to check points and end of levels but you can use F5 as many times as you want between saves (only 1 quicksave point though). Get used to the suit controls. You will use invisibility and armour the most.
I'm on the aircraft carrier at the end. Must go back and finish it...
