Games Machine
Hi all,
My mate's son is about to embark on building his first games PC. I was wondering what would be the best specs for a £1000 budget Inc everything (monitor to mouse).
I will post their ideas when I get home on Tuesday.

Re: Games Machine
Hi Snowy.
I seriously think they might struggle with £1000, memory and graphics cards are still silly money, better than they were but not great.
I do still follow PC builds and new tech, don't know if you know but AMD Ryzen 5 CPU's are probably the best bang for buck these days.
To keep the cost down they could get a last years AMD Ryzen 5 1600, it's a six core 12 thread CPU, that would give more ££'s to throw at the GPU.
Example, people love these CPU's, check out the reviews.

Now put one of them on a good B350 mobo, 16GB RAM and an NVidia GTX1070 and you would be looking at this kind of performance in games, It would maxout just about any game.
Just some thoughts

Re: Games Machine
Yeah 1070s are still pricey here in the UK. I have one and I would choose it again though.
What games ? Do they have certain games in mind ?

Re: Games Machine
I watched the vid to see if there was a game I'd like, I'd prefer a wizard maybe dragons and magical things. Running around shooting people is not for me. Anyways I have the 1070 hybrid ( water cooled ) but the tubing is to long and I'd like to shorten it, maybe put a clear plastic T in to remove any air.

Re: Games Machine
His dad has done a preliminary list. Here's the link.

I see no M.2, slow RAM and only a 1080 screen. But budget seems to be £1600 ish. Mobo seems over spec'd. And a spinner.

Re: Games Machine
Not the build I would choose but it's still pretty good and hard to fault, does come down to personal choice.
Agreed it really should have an M.2.
The memory speed doesn't seem to matter as much on them i5's, so he would get away with it. The AMD Ryzen 5's do show noticeable increases in performance with faster RAM.
No way I would put a spinner in it though, the last thing you want to do is run games from HDD

Re: Games Machine
There's an SSD mentioned too, so I assume the OS would go on that and the HDD for storage ?

Re: Games Machine
P.S. These came down £40 since last month. I'll likely buy one soon :

Re: Games Machine
The mother board does have dual M.2, simple enough to put an M.2 in.
Newegg sells Mushkin, I just stuck with the Samsung.

Re: Games Machine
A heads up.
The 1070's, were released in 2016, yes time flies.
The next gen is coming soon, probably not the best time to get a 1070.
