Sometime mid-week, I got an automatic update for Windows (as I usually do), but of late, I've noticed that it's broken several of my apps and programs, from Adobe's Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc.) to Norton Security. As a result, I've had to perform a rollback to the 1709 version, and THEN, reinstall those apps and programs that were affected. I had first tried going back to a previous restore point, but the Windows update DIDN'T MAKE ONE! {sigh!} back to M$ and their shenanigans.

DD, it sounds like Windows has set the default audio to HDMI, you probably need to change it back to "speakers", use Google to find out how to change the default audio.

*Edit* Its showing as disconnected, think I need to get back under the desk and have a mess around with the connections see if I took it out at some point, maybe I was using the TV after all before and it knocked it off when the update went through, good excuse to get the tower out and have a good clean up while I'm at it.

Sounds like you need to reconfigure your speakers, either with the software or maybe check the speaker connections. I don't know what speakers you have but it's quite possible that the woofer is working but not the surround speakers.
